Position Description: The Policy Coordinator reports to the Director of Policy and Research and the Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Legislative Affairs. This position (1) provides administrative support, including scheduling, to the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Legislative Affairs and Director of Policy and Research, (2) supports administrative and operational processes among the Governor’s Policy and Research team and (3) supports special projects and policy research as assigned. Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesSuccessful coordinators are familiar with governmental and legislative processes. They are detail-oriented with well-developed decision-making, research, analytical and project management skills with demonstrated adherence to deadlines while adapting to incoming priority changes. They also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced interpersonal skills, the ability to learn quickly, and the ability to influence and persuade to affect solutions to complex problems.
Additional competencies should include the ability to synthesize complex information and research into concise, relevant, logical and organized formats for analysis and discussion as well as the ability to identify and resolve or minimize potential conflicts in goals and objectives, missions and agendas. The ability to work effectively in teams, a good sense of humor, and a positive attitude all are important.
