The position of Teaching Specialist in the Department of Bacteriology will provide continuity of instruction for the course Microbiology 101: General Microbiology, and support faculty instructors in facilitating lectures, grading, and Canvas assessments. This position will assist with student questions, class questions, monitor attendance, and assist with Canvas communications and assessments in addition to attending lectures to become versed in course content. This position requires committing two hours/week for in-person office hours to assist students or communicate with faculty instructors. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for this position, for student communication via Canvas.

Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000. However, final salary will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required qualifications:
1) Experience running a Canvas-based class with particular emphasis on facilitating student communication via integrated Canvas tools
2) Prior teaching experience in related courses (i.e., introductory microbiology)
Education:
Ph.D. in Microbiology or related field preferred.
