Overview Standardized Patient - Medical and Clinical Psychology. Join the HJF team to support the Simulation Center in roles and tests for The Suicide Care, Prevention, and Research Initiative (Suicide CPR Initiative) within the Medical and Clinical Psychology department at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. The Suicide CPR Initiative focuses on CARE, PREVENTION, and RESEARCH related to suicide intervention and education, with partnerships across DoD, VA, and other collaborators. The SPs will be trained to portray military service members in interactions with military chaplains, providing feedback on learner conduct and response. This is a part-time, intermittent remote position supporting activities at the USUHS Val G. Hemming Simulation Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. The role is eligible for periodic bookings for up to two years. Responsibilities Portray patients for a research project related to mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). Accurately recreate history, personality, physical findings, and emotional state of an actual patient. Participate in interviews and examinations by students and practitioners in healthcare fields. Assist learners in practicing patient interactions, physical examination, and other clinical skills in realistic settings. Attend training and perform duties as assigned by the supervisor. Actively participate in training to portray assigned military service member roles accurately and consistently. portray suicidal service member during simulated interactions with military chaplains and provide feedback. Participate in debriefing sessions with military chaplains and provide constructive oral and written feedback. Incorporate supervisor feedback into case simulations and be open to retraining as needed. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED Minimum of 0-2 years of experience Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good attention to detail Ability to memorize a limited amount of case information (medical history and symptoms) Ability to portray a case in an appropriate manner Preferred experience as a standardized patient Ability to maintain confidentiality Work Environment Position primarily located in an office setting Compensation Hourly rate: $28.00 Employment Details Part-time, intermittent position with potential bookings for up to two years Other Information Employment with HJF is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, which may include references, verification of previous employment, education and credentials, a criminal background check, and a DMV check if applicable.
