Interpretation / Translation
Job Description I. General Summary Provide bilingual communication support for all associates, departments, customers, and others with whom the company has a working relationship.
II. Essential Job Functions - A. Interpret English and Japanese and vice versa in various meetings.
- B. Translate Japanese documents into English on a daily basis. (Examples: operation manuals, technical documents in tooling/engineering written by Japanese Coordinators)
- C. Translate English documents into Japanese as needed. (Examples: contracts, customer/supplier correspondence for better understanding by Japanese associates)
- D. Assist Japanese visitors with personal matters such as relocation, transportation, etc.
- E. Maintain proper documentation and record keeping.
- F. Willingly perform any other duties that may be requested or assigned.
III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements A. Education - High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Associate's Degree in Business or related field preferred.
B. Experience and Technical Skills - Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required.
- Able to follow all pertinent regulations, standards, and safety & environmental procedures.
- Well-versed in frequently used terminology.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must.
C. Language Skills - Fluent in English and Japanese. Ability to read, speak, understand, and write in a professional manner in both languages.
- Additional languages are preferred.
D. Computer/Software Skills - Excellent computer skills in both English and Japanese environment software. (Especially MS/Excel spreadsheets.)
IV. Work Environment/Conditions A. Office - Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.
B. Plant - Various types of manufacturing environments.
- Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, Kevlar sleeves, hearing protection, etc. may be required in designated engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
- Involves moderate or occasional presence of slightly disagreeable conditions (cold, dust, heat, odor, etc.).
C. Travel V. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear.
The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.
