Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: To bag groceries, perform some cleaning duties, and to provide customer service

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Bags groceries for customers taking proper caution to sack groceries and other items to arrive at the customer's home in satisfactory condition.
• Keeps front end of store in clean, orderly manner performing general housekeeping by sweeping and wiping counters.
• Mops up spills.
• Sweeps the whole store at least every two hours.
• Sweeps front porch area.
• Waters produce every hour.
• Brings in shopping carts.
• May pick up trash in the parking lot.
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older
• Good knowledge of store cleaning procedures.
• Good knowledge of procedures in bagging groceries.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities. Must be people oriented

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED
• If still in high school, must maintain average passing grades (2.0 or higher).
• No experience required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Standing/Walking/Bending-100%; Outdoors-50%./Indoors/grocery store setting, 50%.
• Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
• Exposure to some cleaning chemicals and varied weather temperatures and conditions.
• Must follow safety precautions and requirements.
• Work schedule varies, flexibility required.
• Required to work weekends and holidays.
