The Health Program Specialist I serves as an independent, highly skilled subject matter expert and technical consultant in behavioral health and state policy. This position provides consultation, technical assistance, and coordination in the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive healthcare workforce policies. The incumbent addresses complex and sensitive issues, frequently collaborating with governmental agencies, public and private educational institutions, and employers throughout California.

HCAI offers a hybrid telework schedule with a combination of remote and in-office work schedules for CA residents only. The telework policy is subject to change, and additional in-office days may be required and/or minimal notification may be given to report to the worksite if an urgent need arises.
Telework schedules: The expectation is that all staff will work in office 4 days a week July 1, 2026.
